My Favorite Buying Gold and Silver Book for Monetary Inflation.This very strategic and detailed book has everything you need to know about silver and gold bullion investing basics and how to sell gold and silver. He also talks about how to get your gold out of the country or store silver secretly in your house! The precious metals investing resource section at the end of the book is full of commodities trading info, step by step gold investment strategies, highly rated precious metals brokers and the top gold and silver experts to watch. Use some of your money to buy this book and the rest to buy gold and silver.
Of the several books that I have purchased on this subject, this one is by far my favorite. Precise and to the point. Not endless pages of filler and repeated information. I highly recommend this book as the only book on the subject that anyone needs.
I am neither an economist nor a big investor, but after the many times I have lost savings in the market through crashes I could not control and barely could anticipate, I realized that for average investors to rely on 401K's, and similar paper investments alone, is unwise. It seems to me that investing in something physical with value that is unlikely to decline over a long period of time, is a smart move. I could not have asked for a better book to read, as a complete beginner, with respect to precious metals investing. I sat down to read this book and literally did not get up out of the chair until I finished it, two hours later. It is a very straight forward, no fluff, easily understandable, bare bones explanation of the importance of buying precious metals, and how to do so in the most risk-free way possible, i.e. scams to avoid, best places to buy, premium spread to consider, where to store, etc., with a short explanation of precious metals investing in the US and why it is a smart move to do so.If you are looking for lots of detailed history, with respect to US Money practices and how that affects precious metals rise and fall in price, I would suggest Rich Dad's Guide to Investing in Gold and Silver: Protecting Your Financial Future, which goes into great detail about monetary policy, with lots of charts. I have read both and both are excellent, but if you are a newbie, start with Stack Silver, Get Gold.Just as the description states, you will be able to set up an account and start purchasing with confidence, immediately after reading the book. I very highly encourage you to buy this book if, like I was, you are at a loss as to how even to begin to determine a safe means of buying precious metals.
In a concise, readable format, Mr. Riley tells us what we need to know about buying (and selling) gold/silver. Plus he gives us names - where to go, who to deal with.Short book - I appreciate brevity. Don't you hate authors who take a 30 page story and turn it into a 400 page "tome"?
The author does a good job leading the reader through the fog of investing in precious metals. He even goes so far as to tell you the price of the safe that he uses to store his silver in his home. He explains why silver is probably the better investment, and articulates why his preference is to buy physical bars.I will quibble a bit with the authors stand on ETFs. I have read a lot about the shenanigans played with funds such as GLD and SLV, and I too prefer CEF and PSLV. I have a little more confidence in the system with these funds. I am willing to hold these longer term. The advantage is that I can buy more with a mouse click, and I can liquidate with another. I have no storage costs. It's fair to argue, perhaps, that I'm not investing for the long term, but so far I am.I also wish that he had spent a chapter on buying stock in gold miners or even more time on the miners ETFs such as GDX and GDXJ. I also think a section on Silver Wheaton would have been worthwhile.
